Community Impact

For five decades, Evermore Gather Grow Lead Inc. (formerly West Central Community Program Inc.) has provided safe, inclusive and enriching opportunities that have helped generations of young people build confidence, develop leadership skills, form meaningful relationships and reach their full potential. Through recreation, mentorship, volunteerism and leadership development, Evermore has created spaces where children and youth can learn, grow and thrive.

Today, Evermore serves hundreds of children, youth and families annually through a diverse range of programs and services, including after-school programming, summer recreation opportunities, leadership initiatives, volunteer programs and community events.

Over the past fifty years, Evermore has touched the lives of countless children, youth, families, volunteers, staff, board members, community partners and supporters. Through meaningful relationships, enriching experiences and a shared commitment to community, the organization has helped create opportunities for generations of children and youth to learn, grow, lead, and succeed. As neighbourhoods, communities, and needs have evolved, the organization has remained steadfast in its commitment to inspiring children and youth, fostering a sense of belonging, and empowering future leaders who will make a positive impact in their schools, communities, and beyond.

Key Milestones

1977 – Founded as the West Central Community Program as an outreach program
1978 – 1st formal program at St. Mathews Anglican Church on Monday Nights.
1980 – Became a United Way Winnipeg Partner Agency
1980 – Launched first After School Program out Jacob Penner Park’
1980 – Launched the Greenway After School Program
1983 – Incorporated as a charitable non-profit organization
1984 – Launched the John M King After School Program
1985 – Launched the Wellington After School Program
1995 – Helped establish the Youth Agencies Alliance
1996 – Began Facilitating the Rotary Leadership Circle
1999 – Launched the Summer Day Camp
2000 – Began Hosting Family Fun Nights
2002 – Launched the Junior Volunteer Program
2016 – Founder and Executive Director Retired Succeeded by Kerris Chinery
2019 – Rebranded as Evermore Gather Grow Lead Inc.
2020 – Adapted programming through E@Home during the COVID-19 pandemic
2023 – Relocated offices and strengthened community partnerships
2024 – Launched the Leadership Exploration and Development (LEAD) Program
2026 – Updated Vision to “Building Future Leaders”
2027 – Celebrates 50 Years of Building Future Leaders

50th Anniversary Celebration

In 2027, Evermore Gather Grow Lead Inc. will celebrate its 50th Anniversary, marking five decades of service to Winnipeg's children, youth and families. This milestone recognizes the contributions of thousands of participants, volunteers, staff, board members, donors, partners and community leaders who have helped shape the organization and its impact since 1977.

The celebration will honour Evermore's rich history, recognize the people and partnerships that have contributed to its success, and look ahead to the future as the organization continues its mission of inspiring children and youth and its vision of Building Future Leaders.
